We had a really nice day today. We woke up with the sunrise, about 5:30 am. We had a delicious breakfast and then our guide, Job, took us to the Holy Trinity Church that was beautiful. We got to see the tombs of Emperor Haile Selassie and his wife. (the last emperor of Ethiopia.) The stained glass throughout the church was beautiful. Job is wonderful. He knows everything you can know about Ethiopian culture. He will answer any question we have, translate for us, and helps us with culturally acceptable etiquette. I would not want to go anywhere without him, or one of the other two guides. Then he took us to Amsterdam restaurant and we had some really good pizza.
After lunch we went to the transition home to meet Isaac but he was sleeping. He was so darling. So, we let him sleep for about another 45 minutes before the nanny brought him out. He was still a little glazed over, but I reached for him, and said "come to mama" and he came to me and snuggled me for about 15 minutes. It was so sweet. I just rocked him and rubbed his sweet head and he just snuggled up against me. Precious, precious boy! Then he perked up, and wanted to see in our bag to see what we brought him to play with. We had bubbles, a coloring book and crayons, his two trucks, some fruit snacks, and a balloon. We got to play for about 3 hours. It was so much fun. He loves playing. He would dump everything out of the bag, and look everything over, then he would pack it all back up, and walk it over to a different chair and unpack it again. He kept running into the home, and would laugh because Kevin would chase him and pick him up and bring him back out, He did that over and over. He was wearing the shirt we sent in a care package a few weeks ago under his jacket, and he had a ball we had sent too. He had to go potty while we were there, so kevin took him, he did very well, even wanted to wash his hands. We gave him a picture of Koi, Claira and Caleb and he carried it around showing people, like it was the neatest gift, then he kisses the picture! We were so thrilled. I cannot say enough great things about the nannies
that work at these orphanages. They are amazing. The kids are so well loved and cared for. They are so sweet too. He is talking a lot. We have to ask our guide what he is saying, so he is helpful to have around.
Everything we have had to eat is very good. We are playing it safe though. We got to go walk with another family before dinner and picked up some souvenirs. They sell the most awesome things here. We got Isaac a traditional shirt today to put on him for his birthday pictures on Friday.
I am so tried now, I am nodding off.
